Trade Credit Guarantee for Hub Agro Dealers

Kigali, June 04, 2024: African Fertilizer and Agribusiness Partnership (AFAP) formally launched its $40 million African Trade Credit Guarantee (TCG) Program at the Africa Hub Agro-Dealer Development Conference (AHADC) in Kigali, Rwanda.

Funded by U.S. International Development Finance Corporation, African Development Bank Group, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and USAID through AGRA, the program will provide Partial Credit Guarantees (PCG) to fertilizer suppliers through a 50:50 risk sharing facility to increase the volume of product sold on credit to hub agro-dealers (wholesalers). The program’s underlying objective is to facilitate improved yields for food security in Africa.

The program is accompanied by technical assistance focused on strengthening the commercial viability of the hubs and retail distributors, as well as supporting improvements in soil health and the adoption of good agricultural practices by farmers.
